The Perks of Being a Wall Flower

The Perks of Being a WallflowerI finished The Perks of Being a Wallflower yesterday.  I really enjoyed it.  I wasn’t sure what to expect.  The book had first been recommended to me by a high schooler at my church and a couple of other people seconded it as a good read.  But a lot of book club people didn’t care for it, so I went into it with mediocre expectations.  But I loved it.  I tend to like books that are similarly written – like Catcher in the Rye and On the Road.  I think it would be how I would write if I were a writer since my brain seems to think that way (despite the fact that there is far less alcohol, drugs, and depression affecting it).  And despite the fact that it is narrated by a teenager, there are some really beautiful and amazing lines in it (I would give an example, but Ben is currently reading it).  I was able to feel for Charlie the entire time.  My high school experience was nothing like his, but I was still able to relate.  I got very caught up in the book on the other day.  I came home from class and curled up on the couch with a blanket and tea (it was storming outside, so it felt cozy).  When I looked up the next time, it was three hours later, I was 100 pages further, and the sun was shining.  I had gotten completely lost in the book – it was wonderful.

In other news, I severely dislike school and I think I’m going to pass/fail transnational law :
