I finally managed to finish Middlesex last night. There was awhile there where I thought it would never happen, but it only took 2 long months of barely finding time to read it to do so. I really enjoyed this book. I’m not sure what to say about it other than it is amazing and everyone should read it – although most of you have. I also recommend reading a book that takes place in a place you’ve lived – it was really interesting to see Southeastern Michigan through Cal/Callie’s eyes. And San Francisco, too.
I also enjoyed this one. I read it for the law school book club and after our discussion I liked it even more. It takes place in 1950s Vietnam but it is incredibly applicable today – in its criticism of American foreign policy and cultural globalization. This is my second Greene and I can’t wait to read more.
I read Hamlet for class. I read it in high school, but that was quite a few years ago so I was glad for the opportunity to read it again.
And now I am reading Water for Elephants. I’ve heard such good things that my hopes are extremely high for this one. Hopefully I can finish it in a little more reasonable time period than Middlesex.
