I am having the hardest time reading it. I’ve put it down a second time for another book. It’s not that I don’t like it. In fact, I enjoy the parts that I read. But I just never seem to get anywhere and then I get restless. I guess I’ll finish it some day.
Instead, I’m reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I’m 15 pages in and loving it. I think it was just what I was looking for to get me through the weekend.

I've been having a hard time getting into books lately. The last book I finished "Still Alice" was very good. Now, I'm reading "Dear John" By Nicholas Sparks. I'm enjoying light reads.

If I hadn't been in the right mindset for a big, huge, literary novel I wouldn't have gotten through K&C either. Glad to know that you're enjoying The History of Love though, it's one of my favorite novels. 🙂

That's good to hear. Everyone else just keeps telling my it's amazing and I need to finish it. It's interesting because there are some similarities to The History of Love and K&C but I can barely put this one down. It's one of the best books I've read in awhile. I can't believe it sat on my shelf for so long.

I understand…when I'm not in the mood to read a certain type of book, I end up not wanting to pick it up. I would feel bad giving it a bad review, so I put it aside until I'm in the mood to start it. The first time I read "Interpreter of Maladies" I hated it, the second time I picked it up…I loved it! I've since learned my lesson.

I had the same hard time with Kavalier and Clay. It's a nice book, but it took me ages to finish it. Just like you said, it feels like nothing really happens for big chunks of it so I kept setting it aside and reading other books…
