TSS – We Have Always Lived in the Castle [RBC Readalong]

The Sunday Salon.com
As I’ve mentioned before, my entry into the world of online book discussions started with Rory’s Book Club. Sadly, I have neglected it a little lately and I’m hoping to jump back into that forum with the next book discussion. I also think I am going to start posting those discussions here so that anyone interested in the book, can find the discussion. I hope to give you all a bit more warning next time.

The next book club choice on Rory’s Book Club is We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. I bought this book in March and I am thrilled to have a chance to read it now. If you’d like to join the discussion, the schedule will be:

Chapters 1-3: Start discussion on May 5
Chapters 4-7: Start discusion on May 12
Chapters 8-10: Start discussion on May 19

You can find the thread here. I hope you join us!

Ooh – I just read this book a few weeks ago and enjoyed it a lot. Might have to pop in for some of the discussion.

That is an insane novel. I love it. However, Jackson might be my fave author.

My only Shirley Jackson experience so far is The Lottery.

I never knew a book club like this existed. It looks very interesting. I think I might have to sign up to the forum. Thank you for the heads-up.

I’ve loved my online book groups….The first I remember was in 1999. I’d love to have a face-to-face group. Someday!

I just started a real life book club but I love my online one, too!

Yay for RBC and for Shirley Jackson! 😀 I´m going to join the discussion this time. I only have a German copy but it´s a reread for me so I hope I´ll be able to tell from the context which parts are being discussed.

    • Michelle May 2, 2010 / 2:04 pm

Does the German edition divide the chapters differently?

      • Bina May 2, 2010 / 2:11 pm

A bit, yeah. There are only 9 chapters, it´s an old copy. But I´m hoping to find another copy in the university library. If not, I think it won´t be too difficult to tell where your chapters end. Anyway, I´m determined to join the discussion for once 🙂
