What is it about fall that just makes the days fly by? I apologize for my sporadic posting and my inconsistent commenting lately. It just seems like by the time I settle down from my day, it’s 10pm and I can’t bring myself to finally get around to this blogging stuff. This week, my in laws are visiting so I don’t expect to be much better. Maybe I’ll get caught up on life in November?
For those who were following the Gatsby drama last week, he is home and doing well. He’s still recovering from a respiratory infection he picked up while at the hospital, but he seems to have recovered from whatever mystery illness sent him there. Now we have the fun task of keeping the two cats separated for awhile in our little apartment (with additional guests at the moment). Life is interesting.
(Gatsby on his first night back home – doesn’t the shaved arm make him look like he’s wearing uggs?)
I’m still finding some time to read (apparently not enough as I have to return 3 unread books to the library today which is becoming a habit), so let’s just move on to a little summary of that.

I started to listen to the Bill Bryson playaway and a few hours in, I realized that it was abridged so I put it down and requested the unabridged cds. I’m annoyed that it was not written clearly on the front of the box. I’m also annoyed that abridged books exist.
What are you reading this weekend?
Gatsby is very cute; hope he will be good as new soon.

I’m failing at commenting too, don’t feel bad. And I’m in a reading slump but I might be coming out of it.
How did you like Room?

I liked Room a lot. Probably could have read it in one sitting if I’d had the time.

Ugh, I can’t believe the playaway was abridged and didn’t say that in an obvious fashion.

Poor kitty; I hope he feels better soon. You’ve got some great books going this week: Harry Potter and Billy Bryson!

Welcome home Gatspy! I’m glad that he’s finally on the road to recovery. It’s so traumatic when a pet gets ill and there isn’t any solid indication of what it is or what caused it.
Have a fantastic week with your in-laws 🙂

I have loved every book I’ve read by Parkhurst, so The Nobodies Album is on my list.
Poor Gatsby, he looks like he’s wondering what happened to him…

Sporadic and inconsistent are the names of my game right now, too, so I can relate. Seems like a week goes by in a heartbeat, and then the weekend comes and I freak out a little that I fell off the blogosphere…
Glad to hear Gatsby’s on the mend. Sick pets definitely have a way of turning your life upside down. Good luck!

Hey girl! I missed the Gatsby drama, so I am glad to hear that he is on the mend! Have fun with your in-laws this week. I know how stressful that can be.
As for sporadic and inconsistent, I feel your pain there too. I feel like that while my blogging is fairly consistent, my online presence on Twitter/FB is nonexistent these days – not enough time in the day and too much to do. Not to mention that my blogging has taken on a childlike quality these days. We’ll get back to normal one of these days, right?
That sucks that the audiobook was abridged. I hate when books, either audio or print, are not clearly marked as abridged.

I love that your kitty is named Gatsby! He is adorable. I have a feeling if you invent cat Uggs, you could make a killing!
I hate when abridged audiobook productions are not clearly marked as such. Do many people just not realize there’s a difference and, therefore, not care if it’s marked??
I’m about to tackle A Suitable Boy by Vikram Seth! It’s rather hefty, and I’m a bit intimidated. We’ll see how it goes!

Your cat has a great name and it is really cute. I miss having a cat. My cat Molly was run over by our local pastor’s car about a year ago. I was sad for a long time, but now I am almost able to laugh about the circumstances of her death. 🙂

My other cat is named Daisy. 🙂
Sorry about Molly. I’ve lost a lot of pets over the years and it’s always sad no matter how it happens.

I missed the Gatsby drama last week too, but am very glad to hear he is doing well. (What a beautiful cat!)
I’m with you on the abridged audios. Never understood why they exist, either.

I’m so glad Gatsby is home and doing well! You’re right, it does look like he has a pair of Uggs on 🙂 I have been wanting to read Room so I look forward to reading your review.

I hear you on the not doing so much posting and commenting lately. I feel the same. By the time I am done with work for school and school, all I can manage to do is open Twitter and sorta look at Google Reader. Then I just close the laptop and hope tomorrow is better.
At least your cat is doing well. Hope that the in-law visit goes well! We just had some of ours leave and it was very stressful, in some ways.
Room looks awesome. I just started reading Shiver. I think that is the first one. The audio is great. Also reading a Jerzy Pilch novel. Scrumptious.

Glad to know that Gatsby is fine. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Emma Donoghue’s ‘Room’. People say that it should have won the Booker Prize and it was really unfortunate to have missed it. I can’t believe that there are abridged audio books! What is the point??

I can’t even begin to explain my frustration about abridged books. Why even read it? Why not just watch the movie? I’ve gotten to the point where I won’t read the audiobook unless I can find something on it saying it’s definitely unabridged. I’ve been fooled too many times.

As for abridged books, I don’t really know where I stand on them. I try not to get them. But my favorite book ever is an abridged version of Count of Monte Cristo. I have an unabridged edition too, but I just don’t have the time for a 1400-page book. I loved abridged books in high school, as do many high school students do haha
