As you know, music is my other favorite type of media to consume. And because year-end lists are fun, here are my favorite albums of 2011 (with little to no commentary).
Note: I often give you samples of music but with the abundance of streaming sites these days and my own lack of energy, I’m going to let you discover it on your own.
The Top 5 (aka the albums that were often kept on repeat for weeks)
The King is Dead – The Decemberists
El Camino – The Black Keys
Young the Giant – Young the Giant
What Did You Expect from The Vaccines – The Vaccines
Circuital – My Morning Jacket
The Rest
In the Mountain in the Cloud – Portugal the Man
People and Things – Jack’s Mannequin
Helplessness Blues – Fleet Foxes
Virtue – Emmy the Great
21 – Adele (I know it’s overplayed by it’s a seriously good album)
A Creature I Don’t Know – Laura Marling
Young Love – Mat Kearney
Bon Iver – Bon Iver (it’s no For Emma but still pretty darn good)
The People’s Key – Bright Eyes
Most Anticipated Album of 2012:
Human Again – Ingrid Michaelson
What was your favorite album of 2011? And what are you looking forward to in 2012?
I have heard of some of these and some I haven’t. I’m looking forward to checking them out…I only recently discovered Ingrid Michaelson, but really like her. I’ll have to keep my ears open for her new one.

Ingrid Michelson was my real obsession of 2011 so I had to find a reason to include her in this post.

I’ve not heard of a lot of these, but that’s because I am sort of stuck under a musical rock, and love to listen to a lot of the stuff I listened to in high school and college. Lots of Nine Inch Nails, and Depeche Mode. But one band I discovered I liked this year was Cake. They have a lot of great albums, and aside from The Silversun Pickups, they have been my greatest discovery over the past few years. Great list today! Now I have my nose pointed in a new direction musically!

So glad I found this site! Love all of the mentioned artists. Jacks’ Mannequin has been my favorite band for going on four years since I discovered them soon after the release of EIT. I love Something Corporate, Andrew’s first band, too. Beautiful, amazing music.

I loved the Decemberists’ and Adele’s albums! Definitely among my favorites of last year. Also Gillian Welch’s The Harrow and the Harvest.

I’m listening to Young the Giant as we speak! It’s not my favorite album of the year. I like three of the songs, but the others aren’t really doing too much for me. I do adore those three songs, though. I’ll put them on repeat and listen the whole day!

The Black Keys (old and new album) and Adele were on my playlists all year long! I am loving Young the Giant when I hear them on satellite radio too.

I think I was the last person in the world to hear of Adele. I’m not sure how I feel about some of her lyrics but she is tremendously talented. It’s nice to see someone so young making it big, particularly as she is not the sterotypical pop diva physically. Good luck to her.
