Summary:

My Thoughts:
This book does not shy away from anything. Thomas and the others have to – once again – face the toughest of tough scenarios. This book is much more a mental test for Thomas than a physical one. Thomas knows he used to believe in WICKED. But he also trusts his instincts not to trust them now. Without his memories from before, he has to make decisions with incomplete knowledge.
This book takes us out into the actual world. Instead of being in a single controlled place, like the Maze or the Scorch, we see what the Flare has done to cities and how it really affects people.
I am still a little unsure of the way it ended. I don’t want to say more for fear of spoiling it, but I’m not feeling as resolved as I’d like to.
Despite this, The Maze Runner remains one of my favorite series of recent years. James Dashner is a talented writer with unpredictable plots. I am currently reading The Kill Zone – the prequel to this series which shows how this world came to be after the solar flares. If I get through it, I’ll have that review up later this week.

I bought The Maze Runner for my kids awhile back, and they seemed to like it a lot. That led me to add it to my pile of things that I wanted to read, where it has languished. I feel that I need to read it now, and to continue onward with the series. It does sound like these are fantastically compelling books! Great review today, Michelle!
