Mini-Review:
This is a novella, told in four stories. It is the first of the Fallen books that I have read in print, rather than audio, so it was a bit of a different experience for me.
The stories follow Miles and Shelby; Roland; Arriane; and Daniel and Luce on a Valentine’s Day celebration in the Middle Ages. While these “half” books in series are often just fillers to tide people over until the next book, this one was cute and funny and sad and heartbreaking. What I liked most about it is that is shows that Daniel and Luce’s love story is not the only one out there and it’s not the only doomed relationship among the angels.
I still have to read the final book in this series, but I enjoyed this little diversion in the meantime.
I haven’t read any of these books, but I love that this little story served you so well. Alma Katsu did the same thing with her Taker trilogy, and I loved the little short story in between the first and second book. Sometimes these little teasers are just what you need to stay hooked into the series.
