Fresh Start

As much as I love yearly recaps, I am not usually one for new year’s resolutions. But this year I am going to take advantage of the new year and try a fresh start here.

I recently realized that I may have accidentally quit book blogging. My last real review was nearly two months ago. I can’t even muster up enough blogging mojo to write a mini-review.

But that’s okay. I am a different person than I was when I started this thing. I am a mom and that takes up a tremendous amount of my time. And in whatever free time I have, I have shifted some of the priority from reading to other activities, like photography.

So here is what I am going to do. Because I think having a PLAN will help me.

  • I will do my best to resume Sunday Salons where I will discuss what I am currently reading.
  • I am going to write one review a week. I will post it on Monday.
  • I am committing to Wordless Wednesdays, so expect regular photo posts.
  • On Fridays, I am going to talk about something health-related: food, running, dance, yoga etc. I need to be held accountable.
  • I will continue to do a monthly recap. Because I like those.
  • The remaining days of the week will be free days. I will most likely not post anything. But if I want to, I can blog about anything I feel like blogging about. An extra book review maybe? Some more photos? My current views on parenting?

I am going to try my hardest to stick to this for the first three months of 2014. I want to really give it a try. This blog needs to shift topics a little if it is going to survive and I really would hate to see it go. Honestly. This is the direction I’ve been going so I’m just taking it a little further.

If Β I do go missing here for some period of time, please look for me on twitter or instagram. I rarely go missing there.

Do you have any blogging plans for 2014?

Good luck on these goals in 2014!! I’m excited to see how it goes and I love the idea of a health post! I need to blog more about that too!

I love the idea of incorporating a little structure to the blog. I think something like this would help me too, but I’m not sure exactly how I’d do it. I also love that you’re going to do some health posts! I need to get healthier this year (don’t we all?) so I appreciate that. Happy New Year Michelle!

So far the structure has me excited about blogging again. It seems manageable. Happy New Year to you as well!

Yay! Love this plan (particularly because of Wordless Wednesday and lots of photography).

I am not sure why, but I didn’t have your blog on my reader… I added you yesterday. πŸ™‚ Moving on… I quit book blogging, too. I only got back to blogging at the end of the 2013 because I basically said ‘screw it’ and decided to just talk about whatever. On Thursday’s I have started sharing pictures of the cat. haha. Good luck with your goals for 2014. I look forward to seeing your pictures either on here or Instagram. Happy New Year!

Sounds like a good plan and I hope it works!
I don’t have a blog but my blog-related resolution for 2014 is: keep up with the blogs I follow and comment more often. πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚ I actually think about it sometimes but I’m not sure I would be able to keep up a blog: last year I made a resolution to write down a few thoughts about each books I’d read in 2013…and I failed!
Inspired by others’ new year resolutions, I’ve decided I’m trying again this year! πŸ™‚

I like your goals. My only real blogging goal is to be more consistent, and 3 days a week is what I believe I can do. Books don’t have to be the main focus. I like doing a Sunday post on what is going on in life. I started doing It’s Monday What are you Reading, and i liked it. Perhaps I can get in one or two book reviews a week. I have to be realistic right? Good luck!!

I like the Monday What are you Reading posts, but I always feel like Monday reviews get the most views. So I like to post reviews then.

I think this is totally doable but test it out and see how it works for YOU. Don’t worry about us. I feel connected via Instagram so I get my fix.

It is nice to have the “easier” forms of social media to stay connected with blogging is too hard.

I love your blogging goals. I think they are realistic and give you the opportunity to be flexible. And honestly, at the end of the day, your blog should serve you not the other way around. I look forward to reading your upcoming posts and finding out how this works out for you.

I’ve had some troubles blogging lately because I restricted myself too much when really I just need to write. And so my goal for my blog in 2014 is pretty simple: I just want to get my words and ideas out there.

    Happy 2014!

Just write. That’s a good blogging goal. I felt to restricted by the book blogger label so here we go trying something else.
