Summary:

Callie has lived her whole life on the run with her mom when plans go wrong and Callie ends up being sent to live with her father, whom she doesn’t remember. Now she is thrown into the life she was meant to live but she’s not sure she wants it.

My Thoughts:

I read this book for three reasons: (1) I really liked Trish’s first book; (2) 189 people recommended it to me; and (3) it’s set in Tarpon Springs. Ben teaches in Tarpon Springs and we lived there when we first moved to Florida. We actually moved a couple towns south because I felt like I would never fit into the Greek community (which you should all understand if you’ve read this book). Although many of the places Callie visits in this book are fictional, I could picture everything she was doing with real life clarity, and that is always fun.

But setting the location aside, this book is worth reading. It doesn’t shy away from the real horrors Callie has faced or the less-than-stellar way that she handles them. Characters have heart but they also have faults. The premise may sound a little far-fetched, but this book is REAL. Where the Stars Still Shine does in fact shine. You should probably go read it right now.

That is a nice touch! A multi-dimensional book review! Crazy, but I’ve never been to Tarpon Springs and I’ve lived in Florida for over 20 years.

I love books that are set near my home. It adds such a wonderful layer to the book. Sounds like a good read. I’ll take a look for it.

I loved this book- will need to add her first one to my reading list. I hadn’t realized she wrote another. I lived in Tampa for a while and never made it to Tarpon Springs- now I wish I had!

I love reading books set in towns I’ve lived in- it makes reading it a little extra special!
