Well, I had grand plans of blogging a lot this month. My goal was two book reviews a week. And then Ben went to New Mexico and I remembered how hard it is to be a full time mom and a full time lawyer and still feel like blogging at the end of the day.
I also haven’t taken out my camera in awhile. It’s hard to chase a 2-year-old and snap photos on anything but an iPhone.
But, as busy as life is at the moment, I have been reading a little bit more than usual. The key, apparently, is to read really compelling YA (and staying up past my bedtime). That might be all I read until E is in kindergarten.
I am catching up on my own shows while Ben is away: Doctor Who, Dance Academy, Grey’s Anatomy.
I also just got my orthotics from my podiatrist and have been given the green light to start running again. This is somewhat problematic, as it is a billion degrees out and I have no one to watch Evan unless I go to the gym (and the gym daycare isn’t always okay with Evan). But still exciting!
I am hosting my book club today. We’re discussing The Golem and the Jinny. And hoping that Evan isn’t really sick because I need to get to an important hearing on Monday. And counting down until Thursday when some reinforcements (my sister-in-law) fly in and save me.
What are you up to?
I admire you for being full-time single mom and full-time lawyer all summer. I don’t know how I would handle the working mom thing WITH my husband so for you to do it without is an amazing thing. I do the same thing as you when my husband is around – catch up on shows that he doesn’t watch, and stay up too late reading. 😉

when my husband *isn’t around is what that should have said.

Not that you want to wish your kid’s life away but it is a beautiful thing when you no longer need a babysitter. We don’t have family in town, so getting a babysitter wasn’t always a sure thing, and we missed out on things we shouldn’t have missed in those years. We were over at New Smyrna Beach this weekend with friends to celebrate my birthday and even with the ocean breeze, it is SO HUMID!! Definitely not good running weather.

I have no advice to give in the running dept except to take it easy. It’s so easy to re-injure yourself when it comes to your feet.
My weekend sure went by fast. The Teen got baptized which is a little different since he goes to a different church than we do. We had the end of the year track party. It was hot and at a park but it was an old fashioned BBQ and I found a patch of shade which made it pleasant. I walked away with only one mosquito bite.
Just trying to get through this work week. Looking forward to lunch so I can sit outside and read The Three.
