The Sunday Salon [9.28.14]

After spending all day yesterday in sick toddler hell (13 hours of puking and a lethargic little boy who just kept saying, “I don’t want to be sick anymore”), I am ready for a peaceful Sunday.

The upside of staying home all day yesterday and having a child who just wanted to lie on the floor and stare into space was that I got quite a bit of reading done and I think I will finish One Plus One today. I finished American Gods on audio earlier this week, so this is a pretty successful reading week for me. I managed to post a bunch this last week. Can I keep the pace going?

Other than that, it was an uneventful week for me. I am looking forward to a visit to Michigan at the end of this week – we’re dropping E off with grandparents once we get there and taking a weekend for ourselves on Lake Michigan to go to a wedding. We have yet to both go away without E (we have only done so separately) and we are staying with some old friends that unexpectedly moved to the area. There are so many aspects of this trip that I am looking forward to.

I hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

I saw via Instagram that E wasn’t feeling, or doing, well. I didn’t like any of those photos I don’t think and if I did, I’m sorry that I liked them. It wasn’t for his being sick if it was, but for your photography skills. 🙂 I hope today is a restful day in contrast to yesterday.

There is nothing worse than a sick kid. You just wish you could take away their misery, and of course with little ones the fevers and dehydration can get very scary. I hope he gets over it very soon! And aren’t you loving “One Plus One”? Such a precious piece of work. Maybe a tad predictable and corny, but still I loved every second of that audio. And yay for mommy/daddy weekends. My husband and I swear by them. You have to get away, just to remind yourselves that you have more in common than just the kids. It’s easy to forget!

Sick, puking kids are the worst!! You want to feed them a little something, because they look so weak but when you do… well, you know. The best thing when it happens to my kids, even to this day is to keep them off food for a minimum of 32 hours. Ice chips and that’s it. I hope he is feeling better today. Mine always get the other end of it after the spewing so I hope he skips over that phase.
