The Sunday Salon – Summer Reading Edition

The Sunday Salon.comDuring the course of our marriage, Ben and I have often been forced to live in different parts of the country. In 2007, I spent 12 weeks in San Francisco. By the time I returned to Michigan, Ben had permanently moved to Florida. I was unable to join him until I graduated from law school the following May which meant we spent an entire year living on our own.

Tomorrow, Ben is leaving for grad school in Asheville for six weeks (and you can follow his adventures at his new blog). While six weeks honestly seems like nothing to us, I am sad to see him go. But our previous times apart, I have been able to read A LOT. So that is my silver lining.

I’ve seen some people create summer reading lists and I have done so in the past. I don’t want to do that this year because as soon as I put a book on a list, I no longer desire to read it. But I do have some thoughts on what I’d like to read.

I’m contemplating a Harry Potter reread. It feels like time and Harry Potter is always a summer series to me. I’ve also been thinking of finishing the Betsy-Tacy books and maybe getting started on David Copperfield (which was the classic chunkster I chose for this year). Other than that, I just want to read what grabs me.

Happy Summer (or Winter to my Southern Hemisphere friends) reading everyone!
