The Sunday Salon 3-14-10

I don’t have any interesting topic to discuss today nor is it worth it for me to do a recap when I only finish one or two books each week, but I wanted to say something so here I am.

Today is book club day. It’s our second meeting, and this time we chose to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. We’re going to see the movie this afternoon prior to our discussion. So far, we have been a book & movie club – reading the book then seeing the movie.  Are there any good books being made into movies next month?

The weather is finally turning nice here – just in time for the spring breakers. It’s still not as warm as it probably should be and we had a couple nasty days of rain this week, but I think the last of the abnormally cold weather is gone for good. I know a lot of people like to read in the winter because they can curl up with a blanket and tea (and I certainly love doing that) but my favorite weather to read in is what we had this morning: sunny and a little cool but warm enough to crack the windows and get some fresh air. Our eastern windows are perfect for some Sunday morning reading (although not so perfect for sleeping in).

Ben had his ACL/Meniscus surgery on Friday and is doing very well. When he had this surgery on his other leg a few years ago, he was in so much pain that we were really dreading this one. But we’ve actually had a somewhat decent weekend watching movies and hanging out in the house. I’m even going to leave him alone for a few hours today for book club which is something I could not have done last time. Thanks again to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers for Ben.

That’s it from me. How was your week? What are you reading today?
