Note: While I try very hard not to spoil Shades of Earth, this review asumes you’ve read the first two books in the Across the Universe series.
Title: Shades of Earth
Author: Beth Revis
Genre: Science Fiction, YA, Dystopian-esque
Pages: 400
Year: 2013
Publisher: Razorbill
Source: Personal collection
Rating: 5/5
Summary:
When Amy and Elder land the shuttle on Centauri-Earth, it’s time to wake up the frozens, including Amy’s parents. But Centauri-Earth isn’t what they all expect and they face dangers they could have never anticipated.
My Thoughts:
I simply adore this series. And this finale did not disappoint.
This one is a lot different than the previous two. It mostly takes place away from Godspeed and the outside world is not looking too kind. But there are even more mysteries awaiting Amy and Elder on Centauri-Earth, and the super sleuthing continues.
My only fault with this series is that sometimes the science seems incredibly unrealistic. And not just because it takes place far in the future and there have been advances, but because physics just doesn’t seem to work that way. (Elder does something in this book that I find ridiculously unlikely).
But my love for Amy and Elder far outweighs any faults. Read this series. Seriously.
I haven’t read any of the books in this series, but they sound rather intriguing, and it’s exciting to know that the series continues to impress, even down to the last book. Great review today! I will be looking for the first book on audio!

Like Heather, this series is new to me, but your 5/5 for the finale has me intrigued!

I got the first one in the series at SIBA 2011…so I’ve had it for awhile. Actually I think my daughter squirreled it away in her room. I just haven’t read any reviews that make it compelling to me. But 5/5 and the “read the series seriously” speaks volumes. So it has moved up the list to “someday”. (Love your new look!)
