Summary:

Every morning, A wakes up in a different body. There are rules. A doesn’t travel too far each day, A always wakes up in someone A’s own age (16 currently), and if A doesn’t fall asleep my midnight, there is unpleasantness. It’s the only life A has ever known, and it works. Until A meets Rhiannon. Suddenly, A can’t stay away from her and the life of distance A has created.

My Thoughts:

My book club picked this one. I’m not sure I would have picked it up myself had it not, but I am so glad I read it. I loved it.

It’s a strange concept. I was afraid I wouldn’t connect with the bodyless, genderless A, but I connected right away. A treated gender more like race or body type, which was really interesting to see.

There are, obviously, unique obstacles to the relationship between A and Rhiannon, but it’s also just a story of one person falling for another person, so it’s totally relatable.

Some of the members of my book club didn’t care for the ending, but I (without giving anything away) thought it was fitting. Overall, I definitely recommend this one.

Audiobook Thoughts:

Alex McKenna has a raspy voice (think sorority girl. Or Lindsey Lohan), which I wasn’t sure about at the beginning. But I ended up really liking her narration and I think McKenna did a great job with a tough gig (how do you find a genderless narrator?).
