Karou has joined her Chimera brethren, greatly diminished after Akiva’s betrayal and hiding in the human world. Akiva has rejoined his bother and sister amid the ranks of the Misbegotten. And Zusana is determined to find her way back to Karou.

My Thoughts:

This book added depth to both the characters in this series and the world that Taylor has created.  There are no easy decisions and, as a reader, I can’t even tell which side I am rooting for most of the time. Taylor has created a complex political situation which pits Karou and Akiva, who we all know are still in love, against each other. The inclusion of Zusana in this installment (where she could easily have been left in Prague) added some humor and levity to a rather dark book.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone blew me away. Days of Blood and Starlight has ensured I am fully captivated by this series.

Is it April yet?

Audiobook Thoughts:

Khristine Hvam remains one of my favorite (and fairly new to me) narrators. She makes it easy to get lost in the story and really brings Taylor’s words to life. I highly recommend this series in audio.

Khristine Hvam is such a good narrator. I have this audiobook, and your review makes me even more excited to listen to it! But maybe I’ll wait until it’s closer to April so the story is fresh.
